The very scenic drive into the foothills of the Southern Drakensburg Mountains takes us through the Valley of the 1000 Hills and then into the Natal Midlands.

In the foothills we move into 4x4 vehicle's for the assent into Lesotho, South Africa's Mountanious kingdom. The day is spent learning about the area and the culture and traditions of the local people. One gets to visit an original Basuthu village and taste some local beer and bread

This is a very long day steeped in history but a fair amount of driving through the scenic North Coast.

We follow the buildup to the Anglo/Zulu war of 1879 crossing the Tugela River into the former Zululand. The scenery changes from urban to rural settlement and farmland to open savannah. This is the heart of Zululand where you will learn about the battles: Gingindluvu and Eshowe In the afternoon we re-live the night battle of Rorkes drift. The area is remote so a picnic lunch is included.
